Halloween

Gavin dressed up as a cowboy for Halloween. He went out with his cousins to trick or treat.  We had a ward Halloween party with lots of people.  Paul and Katie came with the kiddos.  Gavin is holding baby Asa.  He's such a cutie.  Made a few goodies during the month too, but I was trying to be good.

Football and a visit

Grandpa came out to visit us for a week. He got to see a couple of Gavin's football games.  They ended up the season with a 6-2 record.  The best so far.  They lost out in first round play offs to a team they had beaten in the regular season.  And the team that won the division lost only once during the season....to Gavin's team.  Bummer.   I had a few "daddy do" things for him to do. We had a good time just relaxing and visiting. We are always happy to have Grandpa come see us!

Birthday

My little boy turned 12 today. My how time goes by. He had a football game this morning and then he invited a few friends to come over and play around. He wanted an oreo cake and pizza for dinner. Really easy for me. He had lots of fun and scored on the presents(money). They had a xbox tournament and threw water balloons in the dark.

Fall Colors

Took a drive up to Colorado today. It was great weather(about 72) and beautiful scenery. No one wanted to go with me, but that was fine. I enjoyed the quiet time looking at fall colors

School and Football

Not a lot going on but school and football Saturdays. Gavin's team is doing well so far. They are 4-1. Kind of bummed about their loss, but they motor on. #21

Back to School

Before school started again (sniff, sniff) I took Gavin out to a back to school breakfast at IHOP to enjoy time with him. Football practice has started and so has school. 6th Grade. WOW! It seems like summer was so short. We tried to do fun stuff and relax. I hope we accomplished it!

California Trip (lots of pictures)

Gavin and I took a trip to California to visit. We packed a lot in each day. The kids had a fun relaxing day when we arrived and decided to do a "Wipeout" version in the backyard. We picked up Heather from the Newport Temple and walked the grounds. We took a trip to the La Brea Tar Pits and Griffith Observatory in one day. They had lots of fun and learned cool things. I loved the observatory. We got a great view of Los Angeles. We stayed until dark to see the stars and lights. We even got a glimpse at Saturn. The next day we went to San Juan Capistrano Mission. That was a neat place too. We hit the beach a couple days and tried new things to eat. Of course it was all wonderful. We had lots of fun visiting with the Petersons and Grandpa!

Cabin Fever

This past week Gavin and Sam spent time with Grandma and Grandpa at their cabin in Southfork, CO. They had a great time fishing, swimming and horseback riding. They love to spend time up there. Glad Grandma kept them for us.

Albuquerque

Sam, Gavin and I went down to Albuquerque today to run an errand and then have some fun.  We went to Cliff's Amusement Waterpark to play in the sun.  They had fun, but it is more for little kids, so we didn't stay too long.  We went to the famous "Sadie's" as featured on Man vs. Food to fill up.  It was very good.  We went to the mall to visit See's Candy and stopped by Krispy Kreme.  On the way home we were poured on by the heavens, which made me drive extra careful and slow.  We had another amazing sunset too.  It was a great day to spend with theses two guys.  They were great travelers. (taken w/ my iphone - some great some not so great)

Our 4th of July was spent relaxing and having some burgers for our BBQ.  We didn't do fireworks this year because of the dry conditions and fire hazards.  We did watch the fireworks the city put on and then watched our dogs hiding in the closet because they were terrified of the noise.  Such wimps ;)

Father's Day

Gavin and I made a great card for Shane for Father's Day.  We'll help him eat it too!  We had a great relaxing day, like most Sundays.  Gavin helped me make teriyaki chicken for dinner and a lemon souffle for dessert.  Really yummy! Of course there are no pictures of the actual father.  He is a little camera shy.

Graduation

It seems silly to graduate from elementary school, but the 5th grade class will no longer go to Northeast. Gavin and most of his friends will be moving on to middle school at Hermosa next year. I think it has more of an impact on me than Gavin. It is bittersweet. But life is constantly moving. Gavin had a great 5 years at his school with some great teachers and one not so great. He ended up with all A's on the honor roll. Hopefully he can keep that up next year. He made great friends too! Here's to summer and the adventures!
