This past week we dropped Gavin and Sam off at Grandma and Grandpa's cabin. Shane and I went to pick them up. Shane did a little fishing. We had dinner and enjoyed the scenery. The boys enjoyed spending time with the grandparents and playing outdoors.
On the way home on the 4th, we stopped by Sunset Crater in Flagstaff and the dinosaur tracks in Tuba City. They were pretty interesting. We got home late and did some fireworks we had from last year that thankfully still worked. We had a great show each night at the hotel, so we weren't missing them.
This past weekend we went down to AZ for a relaxing weekend. But we crammed a lot into a few days. We stayed at a very nice hotel and lounged by the pool. Gavin's favorite show is Man vs. Food. We had to try some of those restaurants for the challenge. We went to Cooperstown(owned by Alice Cooper), Los Reyes de la Torta, and Chompies. All were very good, but Gavin could not finish the challenge. Unknown to us the hotel was having a 4th of July party weekend. The hotel had an Apache and Blackhawk helicopter land on the property. That was very cool. It is amazing how big they are. We got to talk to the pilots and check out the copters. Every night there were fireworks and a concert. The first night we saw Three Dog Night. Some of you older people will remember them. The highlight and most exciting was seeing Five for Fighting. Gavin was so excited because he loves him. He has piano music that he is trying to learn. He was definitely inspired to keep practicing by watching this concert. Gavin asked for an autograph and picture. John was so cool and friendly. We had an awesome and memorable weekend for sure! We are grateful for our soldiers who gave us our freedom so we can have getaways like this!!!
