Piano Recital

Last night Gavin played two songs he has been working on with his teacher, Sis. Moeller. I thought he did an excellent job, but I may be biased. No more lessons for the summer, but he has to keep practicing. (Don't know if he knows that yet)

Dinner for Moms

Today at scouts they had a special dinner for mother's. They asked you to bring a favorite family recipe to share with the other scouts and moms. It was really nice. At the end, the scouts gave their moms a rose and told them why they were thankful for them.

Grandpa

We love when Grandpa comes to visit. We didn't do any outings, but stayed around the house. Grandpa did some fix its(thanks dad), and we lounged around. We are grateful that grandpa can still come visit.

Yard Work

I wasn't going to post this, but not much else has been happing. Just waiting for warm weather to come and stay. We started taking down two pine trees in our small backyard. I can't believe how much bigger it looks. And it lets more light into the house.

Cake Decorating 101

Melissa and I have taken a cake decorating class at the college for fun. We have learned quite a bit. Our first cake was to be done in fondant. I've never worked with it before but have always been interested. I think practice will be good. But we are having fun!

It's True

It is true. Spring is here!

We've waited all winter and it didn't look like it was coming anytime soon.

Now only if it will stay above 65 degrees.

Easter

Easter means springtime (we hope). It was a lovely day today.

Yesterday Gavin colored some eggs with his cousin, Miss G. She wasn't too interested, but it was fun to watch her.

The Easter Bunny brought Gavin some candy and we had an egg hunt. It is still fun to watch Gavin get excited. I know it won't last too much longer, so I'll take it while I can.

For dinner we had the McPhee's, Morgan and Sam over to partake with us.

Spring Break

We had a relaxing spring break this year. No big travel plans (we miss Cali). We hung out around town and did a few things:

Wrestling

and Reading

We went skiing one day, on a few bike rides, made Shane a golden oreo birthday cake, went to wrestling and read. Gavin has done really well in wrestling. Four tournaments down, three to go. (three 1st place, one 3rd) He has picked up reading a lot, which makes me feel less guilty when I lay around reading. No more sleeping in for us. Countdown to summer!

Pinewood Derby

Scout night with our annual Pinewood Derby. We have a cool electronic track so there aren't too many disagreements (mostly between the adults). But it was fun. Gavin got 1st in his den and then 1st place overall.

Ski Day

Today we woke up to a snow delay but we had already planned on skiing. Gavin and I brought Sam with us, poor kid had to miss school. It was a great day. It was dumping all day on the mountain, but Durango had no new snow.

Wrestling season tournaments started today. No more sleeping in and relaxing for a while. Gavin went to Bloomfield this week and took 1st in his division. He was really excited and happy that his dad was there to coach him.

Wishful thinking

Is it too early for blossoms? These are apricot blossoms off our tree at our old house from last spring. I miss that tree. I'm eagerly anticipating spring.
