Gavin's 9th birthday. I can't believe it. Shane and I took him out to dinner and told him no one could come over because of schedules. He was really bummed out. When we got home he opened the door and the family yelled surprise. He was really excited and had no clue. We had cake and ice cream. Thanks to everyone who came and yelled.

Gavin shares his birthday month with Granny. She turned 90 this year and is still going!

A Sad Day
Since we are moving and cannot take our playset with us, we gave it to our neighbors. It was a sad day because Gavin has been playing on it for 7 years. Our friends, the Foutz's, had donated it to us way back when. Now when I look out the window in the backyard there is something missing. Oh well. On to bigger and better things, I guess.

School Time
School started this week for Gavin. He was very excited. I was sad that it seems so early to go back. He has the same teacher from 1st grade that moved up so he was happy about that. So far it has been great getting up, getting ready and walking to school. Don't know when we'll start running around and I'll start yelling "it is 7:55 get in the car." That happened many times last year. Well most of the time.
Dreaming about school.

Family visit
This past week we have had fun with my sister, nieces and dad coming to visit. We first met up with them at my Aunt's house in Vernon, AZ to have some fun. Then they followed us back home to relax, play and shop (the adults). It was great to have them be able to come visit and see the four corners. It is really sad that there are only 2 weeks left of summer vacation.

Beach and Zoo
Yesterday was another beach day at Newport and today we went to the Los Angles Zoo. It was quite hot today, but we survived by spraying each other with water bottles and finding shade when possible. It was cool to see all the animals. We stopped on our way home at our favorite burger joint, In N Out. Yay!

Cali visit
On Monday, we went to the Jurassic store with Aunt Melissa, Heather, Jenna, and Grandpa to check out the reptiles. Not my favorite place. Gavin was very brave and held a python, scorpion,a small turtle that grows to be huge, and a bearded dragon.

Monday night we took the kids to Medieval Times. It is a dinner and a show place. They serve you in a tournament seating area, serve food with no utensils, and put on a show with knights assigned to your section by colors. We had a blue knight. The kids loved it.

Our Utah Trip
Gavin and I went to Utah with one of his Aunt Melissa's and his cousins. We went to "This is the Place" which I have to say Gavin was not looking forward to. But once he was there he said this was the "coolest thing ever". I'm glad he changed his mind. It was great. The kids learned how to make ropes, learned about the medicine of old, met Brigham Young, visited with the animals, and learned more about the pioneers. We did a little shopping damage too. I blew my budget big time.

On the way home, we stopped at both holes in the rock, took a tour, and climbed to the top.

The best part for me was visiting the The Sweet Tooth Fairy store in Provo. We stopped there on the way up and home to get very yummy cupcakes. Love it!!!
